I’d say I grew up with a typical Thanksgiving holiday celebration. Turkey and all the fixins’, cramming together as many guests and family as we can for a huge meal, then going into food comas while figuring out post-meal entertainment.
That changed up when I met my wife and we started celebrating Thanksgiving together. In her family, the emphasis wasn’t so much on the meal, but on giving thanks. It’s pretty simple, they emphasized talking about things they’re thankful for. It was a constant point of conversation.
It made me uncomfortable at first; I wanted my normal of eating and watching football. But “happy wife, happy life” – I needed to consider this “revived” holiday of gratitude.
So now at Thanksgiving, I reflect on gratitude. And when I consider TLDC and what I’m grateful for, my heart is filled with thanks.
We’ll have broadcast over 200 TLDChats by the end of the year, and we’re still going strong (and getting stronger). We’ve had over 4000 attendees from all over the world jump in at one time or another. My personal network has never been this solid. Even better, I’ve made friends — a bunch of ’em! Incredible people that are kind and generous and I’m so glad are a part of my life now. TLDChat has brought that to me and I am so grateful for it.
2017 has been the most challenging year of my life. The last twelve weeks alone have been more stressful than any other period of my existence. But I am thankful for being a part of something bigger, finding others that see the value in it, and seeing myself become a better version every time I participate.
Thank goodness for this Community and thanks to everyone that is a part of it!
